We had over 2000 kids in the Wharton Center today to hear the orchestra for our Young Peoples’ Concerts (YPC’s in the jargon). For many years now, we have partnered with Carnegie Hall and their Link Up program for these concerts. They are well-conceived and designed concerts of classics and some original music specifically tailored to be highly engaging for the young audience.
 
They are also specifically tailored for the teachers with a generous package of support materials that go to the classrooms to help teachers prepare the kids for this experience, and it really  works.  These are highly-interactive programs so the audience members sing, clap, dance and play recorders enhancing their engagement with the event. It’s wonderful to see their response.
 
We appreciate all that our area teachers put into this. The results are rather amazing to say the least.
 
Next up for me, I’ve got a bit of time to learn the pile of repertoire I need to have ready to go for Chautauqua this summer. It's a lot of work, but I'm looking forward to it.
